Meet Ryan + Kathryn
Ryan and Kathryn met over 15 years ago and quickly fell in love, and with a shared passion for travel, creativity, education, and the natural world, set off on many adventures. As long time United States based public school educators and lifelong learners and travelers, they’ve spent years exploring the globe, making art, and seeking meaningful connection and community with the places and people they encounter.
In 2024, while traveling through Spain, Morocco, and Portugal with their young daughter, they arrived on São Miguel and something shifted. The island’s wild landscapes and gentle rhythms felt like a quiet invitation to stay. What began as a stop along the way, soon became the place where they chose to plant roots.
Now rooted on São Miguel, Kathryn and Ryan are devoted to tending a space where they can invite others to share in this special place, a place where guests can slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with themselves, their community, and the earth. Whether you come for adventure, restoration, or retreat, you’ll be welcomed with care, creativity, and open hearts.
Most days you can find Ryan and Kathryn planting and cultivating seeds in their garden, writing poems or making some kind of art, swimming with their daughter in the Atlantic, or preparing delicious foods to share with their neighbors or community.
